About Donna Mowry

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
-Rumi-

There’s nothing I enjoy more than helping people to awaken and discover their limitless power to take control of their life and realize the magnificence of who they truly are.

Are you curious and open about learning more about who you are?  Are you ready to go on a journey of self-discovery that will free your mind and heart?  Are you on the quest for happiness but not sure how to achieve it?  What does happiness mean to you?  Are you yearning to live a happy peaceful life but feel stuck where you are?  Are you confused about what you want in life?  What changes could you make to feel even better about yourself and your life?  Do any of these questions resonate with you?  Working with me means collaboration, responsibility, respect, and, above all, change.  Through our work together, you will feel heard, respected, and empowered.

I was inspired to enter the field of counseling after working as a hospice volunteer and bereavement counselor.  While I have a background in the field of death, dying, and bereavement, I have clinical experience working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, bipolar disorder, difficult life transitions, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), adjustment disorders, interpersonal relationships difficulties, trauma, communications issues, and low self-esteem.

I specialize in the treatments of grief and loss, spiritual integration, and trauma-informed care.  I hold a graduate degree in Thanatology that focuses on issues related to death, dying, and bereavement.  In addition, as a graduate of the Loyola Clinical Mental Health Counseling/Pastoral Program, I offer clients the integration of spirituality, upon request.  Post-graduate work includes certificates in Advanced Trauma-Informed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

Research suggests that the therapeutic alliance is the most important element in the healing process; as such, I provide an environment conducive for self-discovery, self-awakening, and self-empowerment.  My style is warm, engaging, and interactive.  Sensitivity, open-mindedness, and humor are also reflected in my way of being.  I bring my professional expertise and life experiences to help guide you on this journey toward overall well-being.

Are you ready to take the first step?
